New Day

love the big clouds that come after a morning of rain

Dsc04204

love the big brother feeding the little sister

Dsc04168

love the train play

Dsc04171

love the “nobody wears clothes” time

Dsc04172

and every day brings something new.

In Print

This may be the most exciting part of the master’s program I finished in the spring

Dsc04174

where we submitted a research paper- rewritten as an article- to a Literary Magazine

Dsc04176

there was not much pressure to get published, as much as to experience the process of submitting written work and the encouragement to make a contribution to the field

Dsc04175

so when they called in the summer I was shocked and today it arrived in the mail.

Cheers!

Marathon

every year we walk down the street and cheer the marathon runners along

Dsc04152

we live at the one mile left marker so we figure they need the cheering

although our signs were nothing compared to this girl who had signs like

“Dang you look good” and “you’ve got stamina, call me.”

Dsc04156

Henry was more excited about the up close time with the police officers

Dsc04155

and eventually Joe gave into sharing his skateboard.

Dsc04164

It’s inspiring to see all those folks pushing themselves.

Saturday

This was a mural we saw while on our date

lunch and drinks at Congregration Ale House

thanks to Grammy for staying with little ones.

Dsc04103

Then it was off to Issac’s Party

Dsc04118

with hanging out at in Tina’s backyard

Dsc04111

with a theme of Loteria

Dsc04112

and plenty of space for little boys to play

Dsc04117

they love pretending this part of the steps is a stage for dancing

Dsc04116

Oh and who can forget the Tres Leches Cake..

Dsc04149

delicious!

Evening Time

sometimes means taking a quick run around at the park.

Dsc04097

and noticing small changes in my children like

Where did this curl come from? It’s the perfect depiction of a ringlet.

Dsc04099

Olivine sleeps while we eat dinner, content to suck her thumb.

She favors her left thumb, just like me.

Dsc04092

lately involves homework with Paul

Dsc04078

which means Henry also jumps in saying “Me, Homework.”

We are practicing the first letter of his name.

Dsc04081

or Joe sharing about photos from the classroom he is volunteering in for school

that has this lovely idea of painting sight words on the backs of chairs.

Dsc04087

is my one chance to sit quietly at a dinner table, listen to the happy chatting, and remember how fortunate I truly am.

Appreciation

for Adrianna’s wonderful free piano lessons/music class.

Img_0182

for buddies that brighten his day.

Img_0181

for a little guy who has always had a fascination with musical instruments.

Img_0185

for an afternoon in the week carved out for the two of us.

Long Walks

are the perfect way to spend time together as a family

Dsc04037

looking at pelicans and sharks up close

Dsc04008

searching for lizards

Dsc04031

noticing Paul stands a lot like his Ji’chan

Dsc04041

crossing bridges

Dsc03980

spying stingrays floating beneath

Dsc03979

eventually the youngest slips into sleep

Dsc03988

while we guess at the story behind these bones

Dsc04004

holding hands

Dsc03993

cooling off with snow cones

Dsc04060

strawberry and pineapple

Dsc04057
bright outside
Dsc04054
the month has slipped by.
