Rejoice

over the release from the hospital

Dsc06499

with a healthy baby.

Dsc06500

to sit together, opening presents and enjoying them.

Dsc06503

to see friends from SF (15 years is a long time of friendship).

Dsc06519

to be barefoot in my own kitchen, making breakfast for my family.

Dsc06522

to take a walk slowly at sunset

Dsc06527

while the three of them zoom past us.

Dsc06525

to once again be together as a family, enjoying the fresh air.

Day Five

Olivine has definitely turned a corner

decided diagnosis- RSV that caused bronchiolitis.

Dsc06471

She has been able to sleep on her tummy

Dsc06457

and as she sits up her congestion is clearing up.

Dsc06478

She still has a glow toe to monitor heart and oxygen levels

Dsc06458

and her security band.

Dsc06475

It’s a lot like a newborn, as she spends a good chunk of time sleeping and eating.

Dsc06480

The nights have definitely been the hardest

Dsc06494

but today the oxygen has been turned off

Dsc06495

and she is wearing her own jammies.

Dsc06493

The best part is that she is thrilled to see her brothers

Dsc06488

so we are keeping our fingers crossed, if all goes well, we will be headed home tomorrow.

Christmas Morning

with arms loaded we headed to the hospital early

(Joe spent the night, while I stayed with the boys)

Dsc06396

for breakfast sharing

Dsc06394

and gift giving

Dsc06404

I love these homemade treasures

Dsc06414
Dsc06409

while baby slept

Dsc06373

and ate

Dsc06440

and had a beautiful burst of energy where she sat up, talked, and smiled at all of us for the first time in days

Dsc06418

but she was mostly comfortable and content to watch us from her crib

Dsc06381

and a generous family of strangers came by the room with flowers and gifts

(part of their own holiday tradition)

reminding me that small gestures of kindness go a long way

Dsc06448

this includes the kind messages in email and on our machine

the offers to watch our children and help out

we feel loved and supported.

Merry Christmas.

‘Twas the Night Before

Joe is at the hospital with baby while I am home getting things ready to transport to the hospital in the morning

Img_0526

she is definitely making improvements in breathing

Img_0527

I am anticipating our morning together with all of us being a bit more rested.

Thank you for your prayers.

Unexpected

to go from the joy of being with Jich

Dsc06359

and sharing the same sense of humor

Dsc06356

to the quiet hush of a hospital room

Dsc06362

with a baby girl who needs oxygen

Dsc06364

and fluids and rest

Dsc06367

I am finding an opportunity to once again thank God for modern medicine

Dsc06370

and praying that tomorrow we will all be home together.

Fancy Schmancy

last night’s wedding

Dsc06319

our old friend Sun (more like my long lost Korean brother)

Dsc06324

married Yuliya in Laguna Beach

Dsc06332

which meant leave babies at Grammy’s and get dressed up

Dsc06326

I couldn’t resist a candycane sweater to mark the season

Dsc06328

with dinner following the ceremony at Mastro’s Steakhouse

Dsc06349

sitting across from good friends

Dsc06342

listening to funny stories

Dsc06341

trading bites of dessert

Dsc06344

unable to determine which was better

Dsc06345

they are headed to the Caribbean today

Dsc06336

Bon Voyage!

Merry & Bright

Dsc06239

her mom made the kid’s personalized capes and had props to play in

Dsc06227

with comic book styled fonts

Dsc06233

at the local puppet show

Dsc06305

free every night in a friend’s neigborhood

Dsc06313

crowds full of wonder

Dsc06311

with an upside down Christmas tree that continuosly spins around

Dsc06315

and this elaborate stage in his front yard

Dsc06316

in pajamas

Dsc06308

on the night after the Naples boat show

Dsc06285

all the lights without all the crowds

Dsc06280

people even had their boats out in the canals

Dsc06278

at the living nativity

Dsc06270

with baby goats and singing angels

Dsc06274

with Paul playing endless rounds of “Guess Who?” (thank you India) while little ones are sick

Dsc06297

with a game of- Ghost Baby- “look momma, our baby is in the chair.”

Dsc06299

on the last day of school for Paul

Dsc06303

as the season is in full swing.

C’est Tout

are the words that come to mind as I cut a small slice from this enormous, homemade flan a loving mother of one of my students made me

Img_0522

and enjoy my third glass of this

Img_0525

because really there is so much to celebrate (and no I don’t mean the solstice or the end of the world):

today was my last day of teaching until January 7th,

Paul has not been sick at all (even though Henry has pneumonia and the baby has a fever),

Angela and Ben are pregnant,

Sun and Yulia are getting married this weekend,

many friends are coming to town in the next week (Jen, Kurt, Alton, Judy and Dallas),

Joe finished another semester,

my co worker rushed me out of school and I therefore unintentionally left it all there and will be free to enjoy my break,

I have time to de-clutter my home once again,

I came home to a steaming hot bowl of corn chowder from our crock pot,

Olivine is sleeping soundly right now,

the boys are singing in their beds together,

and sometimes I have to list it all out to see how truly full my plate is.

LIfe is Good.

This Afternoon

Henry is sitting stand by (now asleep) trying to let his tiny body relax.

Last night we had another croup cough attack and the fear of him having to go to the emergency room haunts me.

Dsc06206

We hung up some newly created art thanks to our artist in residence- Paul.

Dsc06205

We are filling our house with our favorite sounds.

Dsc06216

We are admiring our cards and thanking God for these folks.

Dsc06224

We are sending out our own well wishes full of love.

Dsc06218

And for those who know me well, may be surprised to find that my house has a real life Christmas tree.

Dsc06212

We are embracing a new tradition.

Dsc06209

They are more than thrilled to have our own tree, and that sincerely brings such joy to my heart.

Dsc06211

He is taking pictures with his own perspective

Dsc06219

and putting the very first gift under the tree.

Dsc06226

Hope you all are having an amazing sabbath.

Easy

she loves this little fish

Dsc06183

her bath time includes reaching for it as it swims away

or holding it up as its tail flaps

Dsc06185

When she is put on her back she kicks and kicks

Dsc06180

I can sit bath side for hours, she is an easy baby!
