After School

I went to a fabulous and free training at a local museum.

My two job choices as a young child were astronaut and teacher.

Although I became one of those, I can easily daydream about the other.

So when I heard “certification for moon rocks” I signed up quickly.

Meanwhile, after a little hang out at home time, they went on a bike ride.

Dsc06148

He’s ready to be like his father, a bicycle fan.

p.s. He also makes crazy expressions that crack me up.

Roseola

the mystery virus my baby contracted last week

Dsc06126

she had a fever (which we guessed was from teething)

but then this rash appeared

Dsc06124

Luckily she isn’t in pain and besides seeming more clingy

Dsc06125

she is hanging in there

Dsc06128

it looks worse than it is

White Elephant

the Christmas party last night had a kid’s round and an adult round

Dsc06066

we had no idea what to bring

Dsc06067

and at the last minute decided each of us would bring a framed, autographed picture of ourselves

Dsc06068

and in exchange we made out with some fun stuff:

a new game

Dsc06070

a mailbox

Dsc06071

and picture frames.

Dsc06075

I love the randomness of it all.

Pedal Away

Paul was more than thrilled to have the open paths and parking lots at El Dorado to practice.

Dsc06079

I find myself cheering them on

Henry on his balance bike (new from his birthday)

Dsc06107

and Paul getting the hang of his bike that is bigger and has brakes,

but is not that different than his balance bike.

Dsc06082

We walked a good deal

Dsc06097

then just camped out on the grass watching our boys go!

Dsc06111

A wonderful Sunday afternoon.

Trying

to stand like the big boys.

She heads over to their table and it’s just the right height.

Dsc05993

to be a queen, with hearts.

(nicer than the one in Alice in Wonderland- the story we recently read with a queen)

Dsc05997

to count with legos.

I love the spontaneous creativity.

Dsc05998

to keep up with the book.

They are watching Mr. Rogers and Eric Carle read the book together.

Dsc06001

This happens to be Henry’s recent favorite
Dsc06000

In this episode on-line Eric Carle is painting a picture from the book.
It is all things wonderful coming together.

Amused

by watching him take pictures

(his imitating is flattering)

Dsc05951

by playing peek a boo

Dsc05957

in the kitchen

Dsc05958

while we eat

Dsc05960

making silly faces

Dsc05961

such joy

Dsc05963

by the rhyming words they make up at the dinner table

Dsc05964

and awestruck at watching him write

Dsc05966

the inventive spelling plus drawings are perfect

Dsc05968

Little Momma

that’s her latest nickname from a family of adoring boys

Dsc05904

she is starting to look less like a baby

Dsc05909

and is easy to please (as seen below)

she is their number one fan and squeals in delight at their songs

Dsc05919

she is also making more silly faces

Dsc05932

as if she understands how adorable she looks with these stickers on her cheeks.

Finding the Time

to make this recipe of spinach and tofu in stuffed shells.

Dsc05882

to hang up our indoor lights.

Dsc05896

to set up our nativity scene.

Dsc05900

to begin marking time with our advent calendar.

Dsc05889

Tonight

we headed outdoors with the rain beckoning us to bundle up for dinner.

Dsc05814

The week and the month have ended making a double cause for celebration

Dsc05820

and I will say this has been the most challenging week of my school year.

If it wasn’t for these little ones cheering me up when I get home, I would be lost.

Dsc05831

I sincerely love my job and simultaneously hate having to be away from my family so much.

This gets more complicated when I start second guessing myself.

Dsc05825

So I decided I won’t.

I will keep trying, learn from my mistakes, listen to my heart, and trust God

just like I am trying to teach my children.
